Awhile back I posted a rant about the stupidity of the debate about Bad Hair/Good Hair, and mentioned Chris Rock’s award-winning  documentary. The documentary, which unsuprisingly has a comedic undertone, is to be released October 23.  It looks pretty funny, and I very much look forward to seeing it. Curious to know whether it will actually be informative, or just a hour and a half or so joke about  Black women & what they go through with their hair. Looking at the trailer, sort of feel like it’s leaning toward the latter, lol. Check for the trailer after the jump…

I obviously took a LLLLOOONNNGGG pause from the blog for a minute, but for good reason. I’m back though… For Now It’s been awhile, and so much has transpired in that time. I certainly have lots to update the blog on. Some good, some great, and some straight out of this world(If you know me). I’m certainly going to share all. From getting a sleeve (Yes, a sleeve! to my own First Place up to my latest achievement, there’s more than enough news to go around. That all can wait, but am Uber excited about news I just can’t help but to share.

This past week I started interning at Bourgeoisie Shoetique in Harlem, an Upscale Shoes  & Accessories Boutique with an Incredible Selection of “Beautifully designed and well-crafted Designer shoes.” Carrying the likes of Guiseppe Zanotti, Casadei, Stuart Weitzman, and a European designers such as Pour La Victoire & Gianmarco Lorenz, Bourgeoisie Shoetique is definitely bringing a little bit of Downtown Uptown to Harlem. In just four days I’ve met some great people, especially owner Rashidah Ali, and even snagged a few enviable opportunities. Thus far have really enjoyed myself and totally look forward to things to come. Make sure to stop by Bourgeoisie Shoetique this coming weekend when we reopen, until then visit us on the web.

July 30, 2009 – EZO Magazine, the curator of artists within the music, fashion, and photography realm, will feature the forthcoming artists who will bring a different attitude to the entertainment neighborhood.  In the second issue, EZO Magazine has taken the opportunity to present the new kids on the block who have defeated the odds and rose to the top with their talents despite their trials and tribulations.

Cleveland native and Kanye companion, Kid Cudi, will also grace the dual cover the second issue.  EZO illuminates both sides of the “Day N’ Nite” artist, sheds some light on Cudi’s musical inspiration, and captures his thoughts on his highly anticipated album “Man on the Moon.”

With all of the pretty faces out in Hollywood, you have to do more than sing and dance to get ahead of the game. Adrienne Bailon, formerly of the R&B trio 3LW, talks about her ride through the musical safari with the Cheetah Girls and her new ventures at the tender age of 25.  In this issue of EZO Magazine, Adrienne gets real and discusses her love for music, acting, and her private life being exposed.  The MTV VJ also gives EZO the dish on her reality series taping and that she wants the world to see that she is “a regular down to earth girl.”

So Mr. West is apparently serious about this designing business, first designing a line for Louis Vuitton and now Nike (Not necessarilary in the same order). If I’m not mistaken, 2 pair of the Air Yeezy’s have been released with one, presumably the last, to follow. I really like these ones, I probably wouldn’t wear them, but I’d definitely purchase. I liked the black & pink, but these ones are calling me. Expected release is the beginning of June, yet again, just in time for my Born day.

I was over at Blogxilla and one of his posts reminding me of something I read awhile back. According to a some studies done “Women dress to impress when they are at their most fertile”. For some reason I find this very intriguiging but actually makes a whole lot of sense. There are definitely some days when I just want to look good for no reason, and now I know why.

So fellas that means next time your lady is dressed to the nines, better fall back or take extra precautions if you’re not looking forward to the pitter patter of little feet in your life.

One study actually found that this effected “exotic dancers” and their pay too, which I find hilarious. Links to both studies are below.

I think I may be a little late, but my favorite magazine is back: HONEY!!! Remember them?! I’m very selective when it comes to my magazines, but  I remember HONEY! when I was younger.  Don’t ask me why I was reading the magazine at that age, but I was.  I’m glad to see that they’re back, and if you let them tell it:

“Honey Mag is back and we’re strictly digital… No need to subscribe…”

They’re not in print anymore, only on the web, but that’s just as good right? Seems to me everyone’s using the computer nowadays, even Grandma & Grandpa. So skip on over to the site and see what they have to say on Twitter (Don’t forget to follow me!)

Bodywise anyway! On my road to trying to lose weight I’ve been looking up several activities that will shape my body. I want to lose weight, but I don’t want to lose the curvy girl in me so I’ve been looking up different things to take up. One of them I was considering was ballet, because although it may screw up your feet it does WONDERS for your body. Shapewise, Flexibility, Agility, all that… I practiced (not seriously) when I was younger, and figured maybe I’d start up again.

But I digress, when googling I came across this striking image and googled the dancer because I know I’d heard the name before: Misty Copeland. (Still unsure of where I’d heard her name, I think I saw it on another blog). Turns out Miss Misty is a celebrated dancer in the Ballet Arena. So celebrated that when she was younger a custody battle actually ensued between her mother and instructors/managers. Misty is currently a soloist for the American Ballet Theatre, and the first African-American female to do so.  She has accomplished this fete as well as many others throughout her career.  For more about Misty see  below, but here are a few photos of the ballerina below.

I wasn’t going to weigh in on the matter because I’m really not one for gossip. I know how detrimental it can be to one’s reputation, whether true or not, so I don’t like to indulge BUT since it is no longer rumor and indeed fact here my two cent goes…

I’ve always been the type to not comment on people’s personal lives (not to them anyway,lol), ESPECIALLY friends. “To each his own” is my motto when it comes to others and their ways, but this Swizz/Alicia thing is a little distasteful in my eye sight. If they want to be together then like I said “To each his own”, if he even wanted to do the Best I Ever Had remix, the same thing goes for that. But as far as Swizz publicly announcing that he was talking about Alicia, and going on the record about their relation, I just think that was kinda wack. I understand you found love and all, and I know that feeling when you trying to hold back but can’t cause you’re just sooo excited, but he should’ve constrained himself just a tad.

When you’re still legally married, have children with your wife, and all the parties involved are public figures I think he should’ve just kept it like it was underwraps. The combo of him speaking out and the content of the song is basically the equivalent of saying “Na, Na, Na, Na Na, Na”. Regardless of what the situation may actually be, people will believe what they want and right now they see Ms. Keys as a homewrecker, which she may not even be and Swizz as jerk, which he probably isn’t either.

While looking for accessories to complete my birthday outfit, I came across some pieces I really liked. After some research I found that they belonged to the jewelry line of Genevieve Jones. If you’ve never heard of the young lady, you probably may have seen her on a red carpet or two, but if you scour the pages of Vogue as do I you probably have. Ms. Jones seems to be a staple on the socialite scene in New York City, and until coming across her line (which includes handbags as well). I had absolutely no idea what she was actually known for.
