Back At It Again…

November 4, 2008

So it looks like the state of Florida is up to their old tricks again…

So, check this out. Deerfield Beach, Fla. is one hour south of Palm Beach. Nearly 400 people were planted firmly in line at 6:15 this morning, waiting for the polls to open at 7:00 AM. There is one voting machine to accommodate all of them.

The area almost entirely African American. Many of the people never have voted before. One woman was 101 years old. She was wheeled into the polling place and on her way out she said that before she died, she wanted to vote for a black man.

Election monitors noticed a man in line who appeared to be a voter. Turns out he was a saboteur, telling people the Democrats were supposed to vote at a different location.

Some of the voters said they were robocalled last night. The message — Democrats weren’t supposed to vote until Wednesday.

Was just reading this over at TMZ, which I normally don’t patronize due to their obvious racism sometimes that I simply do not agree with, but this was very much worth sharing. Remember, Remember….

No Time?!?

November 1, 2008

Although I am still pretty much preoccupied with school I felt it was my responsibility to use my voice in regards to the upcoming election. I’m BEGGING that you please exercise your right & make your voice heard and vote for whomever you feel is the best candidate. I myself have no shame in declaring that I WILL be voting for Barack Obama for a number of reasons which I will definitely be let known once I have the time, that in and of itself deserves an essay, and anyone who knows me knows I’m really not a writer.

I wanted to use this platform to express how important it is that you please vote! I didn’t think that in this day & age, and for this pivotal election I would hear someone state “They didn’t have the time to register”?! Pivotal not because, it is historical, pivotal not because many a individuals true colors & feelings have arisen, but pivotal because this Country is no longer the respected force it once was. We need a President who understands this, and will do his part in bringing us back in that direction & can began to reverse the damage that the last treacherous 8 years has brought on because this definitely cannot be undone in one term or by one President.

I was truly bothered & upset when I heard that young adult in the elevator on my way to class make that horribly ignorant statement. Our forefathers & ancestors laid down their lives just so that we might have the POSSIBILITY to vote, and here we have the right & you feel you didn’t have the time to register?! MLK III along with Medgar Evers and even your grandparents or great grandparents, along with countless others probably would’ve turned in their grave to hear you make that statement.

For that young girl who made that statement: When you’re complaining that funds have been cut & you’ve lost your financial aid, or the rise of housing continues to rise so it is difficult to make ends meet, or even when taxes have been risen so you can no longer afford that designer handbag, I don’t have the time to hear your complaints neither will the person who you’re going to for help because you “didn’t have the time” to register to vote.

Young, Old, Black, White, Republican, Democrat No matter what you are PLEASE make it to the polls to vote on this Tuesday, November 4,2008.

OBAMA for Change, YES WE CAN!!!
