YES WE DID!!!
Words can’t express how I feel. From the moment I woke up this morning (5am) to vote until moments ago when the word was final that The 44th President of the United States will be Barack Obama I have been so excited & overcome with a number of feelings. I am Proud, Hopeful, Elated, Glad & so much more for so many reasons.
I literally ran to the polls this morning, and joked to my sister “You know I love Barack Obama, I don’t even get up early in the morning to run for my well-being, and I’m running for him”. LOL. I’m so overwhelmed so forgive me if I’m all over the place right now, I’m unsure of how to express myself, but will try my best. I have no idea where to start.
I am most grateful and appreciative to those who gave up their lives & rights so that I might partake in the history that I did today. I am so happy that my grandmother who lived through the Jim Crow Era had a chance to cast her ballot for an African-American & see him become President-Elect. My Great-Grandparents who were considered 3/5s of a person have the opportunity to see this day come into fruition.
I am grateful to my parents who instilled the importance of carrying myself with respect & always encouraging us and leading us to believe that we might be able to do something of this caliber. I’m grateful & Thankful to those who found it not robbery to cease this opportunity and exercise their right to vote. Without your or my vote, this momentous occasion would not have been possible.
And I am grateful to President Barack Obama for risking his life to make a change & accept his charge from God so that his will be done. I’m proud, not that Mr.Obama is African-American, but because of how he carries himself & he has become the epitome for lots of people especially, young adults that ANYTHING IS INDEED POSSIBLE! His demeanor, message, and example are impeccable. BUT let us not get so wrapped up in Mr.Obama that we not hold him accountable for his promises, messages, and what his responsibility is as OUR president.
Today was a wonderful day in every sense of the word, and the beginning of a new day. I look forward to what the future brings, and can go to bed without a care in the world. Thank God!

Woop Woop!!
BARACK OBAMA!!!
I never felt like an American before. I always felt like a grumbling expatriate, stuck in a country that didn’t care for me. Last night was the first time that I actually felt proud to be part of this country. I am excited for what changes are to come, and trust and believe in President Obama and his goals and promises for our country and this world’s future.
I completely agree, while voting yes & looking at all those people waiting in lines, just as happy as I was I realized it exactly what Michelle Obama said when she made that statement about feeling like an American. I’m still in awe…
